A companion to our "Devil's Den Witness" print, this historic tree is located at the base of Culp's Hill in Gettysburg."Culp's Witness" Limited Edition of 8 Aluminum Print on Witness WoodA companion to our Devil's Den "Witness" print, this historic tree is located at the base of Culp's Hill in Gettysburg.

Greetings from Gettysburg!

I'm very pleased to share our newest offering, "Culp's Witness", which is an 8" aluminum print featuring the witness tree located at the base of Culp's Hill in Gettysburg. Each print is mounted, via a custom pewter bracket bearing our new Metal Vistas™ logo, to a slice of wood pruned (legally*) from the witness tree located atop Devil's Den, and only 8 of these limited edition prints with 'witness wood' stands were made in total.

Each print includes a signed, numbered and dated certificate of authenticity, care & cleaning instructions and a convenient microfiber cleaning cloth. The first print has already been claimed, so only 7 of these highly collectible prints are available on a first come, first served basis.**

The price is $199 plus tax & shipping.***

"Culp's Witness" is a companion piece to our recent limited-edition "Witness" print series and, likewise, only eight were made. Seven of those sold within 24 hours of notifying our mailing list, and the final print (8 of 8) could not be sold immediately because the base had been "borrowed" by the person who purchased the very first "Culp's Witness" print!

I've made a new base for it (pictured below), and that single remaining print of "Witness" with a 'witness wood' stand is also available to the first person who claims and pays for it.

"Witness" - The Witness Tree Located at Devil's Den in GettysburgThis is the last available print in this series (8 of 8), mounted to a slice of wood from the historical witness tree seen in the picture. To claim your print(s), email us to let us know which one(s) you want. Please be sure to include your shipping address. You'll be sent a PayPal invoice and once paid, your print will be shipped within 3 business days. Tracking numbers will be provided when they are available. Thanks!

* To learn the back-story on how the 'witness wood' was acquired, see our previous blog post.

** For the sake of fairness, these prints will be sold on a "first come, first served" basis, and this will be determined by the time-stamp on your email.

** You will be invoiced $199 + 6% PA sales tax + $15.50 for USPS Priority Mail, which includes tracking and $50 of Postal Insurance. Additional insurance or UPS shipping is available upon request, for an additional fee.

We truly appreciate your interest, and we're sorry to exclude our international friends, but we are unable to offer international shipping at this time.

ARTifact: A Piece of History You Can Own

"Witness Tree" - Limited Edition of 8."Witness Tree" - Limited Edition of 8.8" aluminum print on a pedestal made from Devil's Den 'witness tree' wood with pewter.

These are metal prints on slices of wood belonging to the "Witness Tree" at Devil's Den. It is so-called because it is believed to have been standing at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg, a living witness to that pivotal event in our nation's history.

The wood was given to me by Mr. Wayne Elliott, the professional arborist who pruned the branch (with Park Service approval), and I have been hoarding these pieces for years. Ultimately, I decided they would make attractive pedestals for these 8" round aluminum prints of the iconic tree... and three have already been claimed by friends.

That leaves the five pictured here, which will each include a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, and a soft microfiber cleaning cloth. If you'd like one of these unique artifacts, they're available for $199 each* (plus $15.50 for postage and 6% Pennsylvania sales tax).

These collectibles will be sold to the first 5 people who email us to claim (and pay for) them. You can use the contact form on this website or you can email us directly: [email protected]

* Multiple payment options available. Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail to addresses within the continental United States. Postage includes $50 insurance, and additional coverage can be purchased at customer's request. Sorry, but we do not offer international shipping at this time.

Each print includes a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity and a soft microfiber cleaning cloth. This is Wayne Elliot, an arborist from Ontario who, along with his late wife, Donna, is largely responsible for this tree being so healthy and attractive:

This is Wayne's wife, Donna. She was my customer, then she was my friend... and then she was gone. A smart, funny, wonderful woman, and I miss her:

These are just a few of the dedicated volunteers who, year after year, travel to Gettysburg from far and wide, specifically to care for THIS tree and beautify the surrounding area. A debt of gratitude is owed to them all:

Coming Back From Calamity - A Series of Promotions!

February 20, 2021  •  Leave a Comment

Last week I suffered a computer hard-drive failure. By itself this would be bad, but it was compounded by a mistake I had made when formatting my backups. As a result, nearly 17,000 edited and unedited images were lost, and the cost of recovering them will likely be substantial... if they can be recovered at all.

Several people have suggested starting a Go Fund Me campaign, but times are tough for everyone right now and it would be inappropriate to ask for a hand-out. So, to raise the required money to (try to) recover my files, and to shore up my computer so this never happens again, I am having a series of special promotions. We'll raise the money the way we have ALWAYS done it - by offering unique products, value and savings to our loyal customers!

The first promotion is a sale, and our customers can save 20% off all print orders by using the coupon code "ouch" during checkout. The sale runs through the end of February 2021, and free shipping* is included with your print purchases. This includes our traditional archival photo-prints AND our framed and unframed canvas-wrap prints.

Our second promotion is something special - we're auctioning an artist's proof of the aluminum print pictured below. This unique metal print features the view from Little Round Top in Gettysburg and the Civil War monument to Union General Warren. It includes a hand-made stand, a signed and dated certificate of authenticity and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

The auction is on eBay and the opening bid for this item is $99. There is a 'BUY NOW' price for anyone who REALLY wants to show their support and skip the auction altogether. The auction begins at 8 pm Eastern time on Saturday, February 20, 2021, and it ends at 8 pm on the following Saturday (2/27). There is more information about the print on the auction page.

You can view the auction HERE, and if you would like to purchase the print for the 'BUY NOW' price without going through eBay, you can email us and we'll be glad to send you a PayPal invoice. We'll end the auction once it has been paid, but because this is a singular item it will be sold to the first person to claim and then pay for it.

The loss of so much hard work was gut-wrenching, but discovering the loss of pictures of friends and family who have passed is the worst part. Your help is greatly appreciated, and we'll be having more sales, auctions and other promotions coming up soon. If you'd like to be informed about them, be sure you're on our mailing list. And if you have friends or family who might appreciate our work, please share this with them. Word of mouth is as good as gold to a small business. Thank you!!

* Free shipping offer applies only within the continental United States. We do not offer international shipping at this time.

"Grazing at Gettysburg"

January 16, 2021  •  Leave a Comment

These lovely horses were photographed on a foggy January day at Gettysburg National Military Park. Their riders were sitting nearby, enjoying a snack and surreptitiously watching me taking pictures.

It has been a while since I posted here but we've been busy behind the scenes, working on an entirely new product line. Due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, progress has been excruciatingly slow - but steady - and we now project a launch date of March or April 2021. In the elapsed time since we began this, our new product line has already undergone several revisions and improvements, and we have big plans for where we're going with this product line far beyond the initial launch. Stay tuned!

It has been a while since I posted, but that's not because I have been idle. I've been spending my days working on a new business, a new product line and a new website to compliment this one. There are only so many hours in the day, and at 54 I am not as productive as I was at 34, so unfortunately this blog has been neglected, along with my photography and editing! Today I decided I HAD to edit a photo, if only to keep in practice, and this is the resulting image. It is available here for paper or canvas prints (on mobile devices, when you click the BUY button the canvas-wraps are in HOME DECOR) in sizes up to 24" x 36".
