Last week I suffered a computer hard-drive failure. By itself this would be bad, but it was compounded by a mistake I had made when formatting my backups. As a result, nearly 17,000 edited and unedited images were lost, and the cost of recovering them will likely be substantial... if they can be recovered at all.
Several people have suggested starting a Go Fund Me campaign, but times are tough for everyone right now and it would be inappropriate to ask for a hand-out. So, to raise the required money to (try to) recover my files, and to shore up my computer so this never happens again, I am having a series of special promotions. We'll raise the money the way we have ALWAYS done it - by offering unique products, value and savings to our loyal customers!
The first promotion is a sale, and our customers can save 20% off all print orders by using the coupon code "ouch" during checkout. The sale runs through the end of February 2021, and free shipping* is included with your print purchases. This includes our traditional archival photo-prints AND our framed and unframed canvas-wrap prints.
Our second promotion is something special - we're auctioning an artist's proof of the aluminum print pictured below. This unique metal print features the view from Little Round Top in Gettysburg and the Civil War monument to Union General Warren. It includes a hand-made stand, a signed and dated certificate of authenticity and a microfiber cleaning cloth.
The auction is on eBay and the opening bid for this item is $99. There is a 'BUY NOW' price for anyone who REALLY wants to show their support and skip the auction altogether. The auction begins at 8 pm Eastern time on Saturday, February 20, 2021, and it ends at 8 pm on the following Saturday (2/27). There is more information about the print on the auction page.
You can view the auction HERE, and if you would like to purchase the print for the 'BUY NOW' price without going through eBay, you can email us and we'll be glad to send you a PayPal invoice. We'll end the auction once it has been paid, but because this is a singular item it will be sold to the first person to claim and then pay for it.
The loss of so much hard work was gut-wrenching, but discovering the loss of pictures of friends and family who have passed is the worst part. Your help is greatly appreciated, and we'll be having more sales, auctions and other promotions coming up soon. If you'd like to be informed about them, be sure you're on our mailing list. And if you have friends or family who might appreciate our work, please share this with them. Word of mouth is as good as gold to a small business. Thank you!!
