These are metal prints on slices of wood belonging to the "Witness Tree" at Devil's Den. It is so-called because it is believed to have been standing at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg, a living witness to that pivotal event in our nation's history.

The wood was given to me by Mr. Wayne Elliott, the professional arborist who pruned the branch (with Park Service approval), and I have been hoarding these pieces for years. Ultimately, I decided they would make attractive pedestals for these 8" round aluminum prints of the iconic tree... and three have already been claimed by friends.

That leaves the five pictured here, which will each include a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, and a soft microfiber cleaning cloth. If you'd like one of these unique artifacts, they're available for $199 each* (plus $15.50 for postage and 6% Pennsylvania sales tax).

These collectibles will be sold to the first 5 people who email us to claim (and pay for) them. You can use the contact form on this website or you can email us directly:

* Multiple payment options available. Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail to addresses within the continental United States. Postage includes $50 insurance, and additional coverage can be purchased at customer's request. Sorry, but we do not offer international shipping at this time.

Each print includes a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity and a soft microfiber cleaning cloth. This is Wayne Elliot, an arborist from Ontario who, along with his late wife, Donna, is largely responsible for this tree being so healthy and attractive:

This is Wayne's wife, Donna. She was my customer, then she was my friend... and then she was gone. A smart, funny, wonderful woman, and I miss her:

These are just a few of the dedicated volunteers who, year after year, travel to Gettysburg from far and wide, specifically to care for THIS tree and beautify the surrounding area. A debt of gratitude is owed to them all:

(FYI - I'm done with Facebook and Instagram. If you'd like to keep in touch or see my latest work, I'm posting it on MeWe these days.)

Coming Back From Calamity - A Series of Promotions!

Last week I suffered a computer hard-drive failure. By itself this would be bad, but it was compounded by a mistake I had made when formatting my backups. As a result, nearly 17,000 edited and unedited images were lost, and the cost of recovering them will likely be substantial... if they can be recovered at all.

Several people have suggested starting a Go Fund Me campaign, but times are tough for everyone right now and it would be inappropriate to ask for a hand-out. So, to raise the required money to (try to) recover my files, and to shore up my computer so this never happens again, I am having a series of special promotions. We'll raise the money the way we have ALWAYS done it - by offering unique products, value and savings to our loyal customers!

The first promotion is a sale, and our customers can save 20% off all print orders by using the coupon code "ouch" during checkout. The sale runs through the end of February 2021, and free shipping* is included with your print purchases. This includes our traditional archival photo-prints AND our framed and unframed canvas-wrap prints.

Our second promotion is something special - we're auctioning an artist's proof of the aluminum print pictured below. This unique metal print features the view from Little Round Top in Gettysburg and the Civil War monument to Union General Warren. It includes a hand-made stand, a signed and dated certificate of authenticity and a microfiber cleaning cloth.

The auction is on eBay and the opening bid for this item is $99. There is a 'BUY NOW' price for anyone who REALLY wants to show their support and skip the auction altogether. The auction begins at 8 pm Eastern time on Saturday, February 20, 2021, and it ends at 8 pm on the following Saturday (2/27). There is more information about the print on the auction page.

You can view the auction HERE, and if you would like to purchase the print for the 'BUY NOW' price without going through eBay, you can email us and we'll be glad to send you a PayPal invoice. We'll end the auction once it has been paid, but because this is a singular item it will be sold to the first person to claim and then pay for it.

The loss of so much hard work was gut-wrenching, but discovering the loss of pictures of friends and family who have passed is the worst part. Your help is greatly appreciated, and we'll be having more sales, auctions and other promotions coming up soon. If you'd like to be informed about them, be sure you're on our mailing list. And if you have friends or family who might appreciate our work, please share this with them. Word of mouth is as good as gold to a small business. Thank you!!

* Free shipping offer applies only within the continental United States. We do not offer international shipping at this time.

"Grazing at Gettysburg"

These lovely horses were photographed on a foggy January day at Gettysburg National Military Park. Their riders were sitting nearby, enjoying a snack and surreptitiously watching me taking pictures.

It has been a while since I posted here but we've been busy behind the scenes, working on an entirely new product line. Due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, progress has been excruciatingly slow - but steady - and we now project a launch date of March or April 2021. In the elapsed time since we began this, our new product line has already undergone several revisions and improvements, and we have big plans for where we're going with this product line far beyond the initial launch. Stay tuned!

It has been a while since I posted, but that's not because I have been idle. I've been spending my days working on a new business, a new product line and a new website to compliment this one. There are only so many hours in the day, and at 54 I am not as productive as I was at 34, so unfortunately this blog has been neglected, along with my photography and editing! Today I decided I HAD to edit a photo, if only to keep in practice, and this is the resulting image. It is available here for paper or canvas prints (on mobile devices, when you click the BUY button the canvas-wraps are in HOME DECOR) in sizes up to 24" x 36".

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Things have been quiet here, but that's because we've been busy working on something new and very different. There are a lot of moving pieces to this new venture, and we want everything right before we make it public. But we're taking the extra time because we know you're going to like it! Stay tuned... and if you're on our mailing list, you'll be among the first to know when it's ready!

"Guardian of the Eternal Light"

A silhouette of a cannon flanking the Eternal Light Peace Memorial at Gettysburg National Military Park. This was taken recently, following a fast moving storm, and I love the way the damp ground reflected the tinted light of the sun from behind the clouds.

This one isn't available for purchase (yet) but it's different and I have definite plans for it, so I figured I'd share it with those of you who love the Devil's Den "Witness Tree" as much as my wife and I do.

A New Image and Getting Back Up to Speed
pe-0175 - "Union Infantry Advance"pe-0175 - "Union Infantry Advance"Photographed in 2016 at Gettysburg National Military Park.

This is the first picture I have edited in weeks and I was feeling pretty rusty when I started, but I ended up happy with the final result. I've been busy trying to get the website back online, but also devoting much of my time to a new project. I can't reveal its nature just yet, but I'm looking forward to sharing it with you when it is ready. As always, our mailing list subscribers will be the first to know!

Until then, I hope you'll enjoy "Union Infantry Advance", which was photographed in 2016 at Gettysburg National Military Park and finally edited today. It is formatted for prints up to 24" x 36" and its soft palette and painterly editorial style make it an ideal candidate for our new canvas-wrap prints. You can click the image to see all of the different print sizes and options.

A NEW LOOK, A NEW BLOG! "Conflagration on the Horizon""Conflagration on the Horizon"

It has been a long time coming, but the Mason Dixon Photography website has finally undergone a much-needed overhaul. We've archived our older images and added a ton of new images. We've expanded to include some exciting new print options and we've created this blog to present our newest work as soon as it is completed. Hopefully that will give you a reason to visit us often... and we've got a few surprises coming that you will not want to miss!

In addition to the high-quality archival photographic prints we've been creating since 2011, we are now very pleased to offer a line of high quality, solid-face canvas-wrap prints. Our new canvas-wraps are competitively priced with traditional paper prints and they completely remove the need for expensive mounting, matting or framing! They arrive ready to hang, right out of the box... and for those who are seeking the additional strength and the classic elegance of real wood, we also offer our canvas-wrap prints with sturdy, attractive wooden float-mount frames.

Our new 20" x 60" canvas-wrap panoramic prints look great! Our new 20" x 60" canvas-wrap panoramic prints look great!Available unframed or with genuine wood frames. We've got a lot more coming very soon, including contests, give-aways, new products... and one BIG surprise that will explain why we've been so quiet lately. Here's a hint - it's not because of this website, and we're expanding our business in a completely new direction! (But that's a story for another day. If you'd like to be among the first to know about that, be sure to subscribe to our mailing list.)

For today, we hope you will enjoy the new look and layout of this website, and we are very excited to finally offer a way for our customers to easily, affordably and securely order beautiful canvas-wrap prints of our images. Our customers have told us how impressed they've been by these canvas prints, and now we're pleased to offer them - as well as all of our OTHER products - with the shipping INCLUDED in their prices.

We know how annoying it is to add items to your cart at the posted price, only to see the ACTUAL cost is much higher after the shipping has been added! And we know, in the age of Amazon and other large online retailers, most people have come to expect free shipping. As a small (2 person) business, obviously we cannot afford to pay all of the shipping costs for every print we sell... however what we CAN DO is be up-front with our customers about the true cost of our prints, so there are no unpleasant surprises during check-out*!

* (Pennsylvania state sales tax will be automatically calculated and added during checkout. There's no avoiding death and taxes!)

Like many of you, Covid-19 has forced us to reevaluate how we do things. Our former business plans had to scrapped and a new path forward had to be plotted. Getting this website updated and back online was just one step, and another important step has been adapting the way we will be processing and fulfilling orders for the foreseeable future. For now, most orders will be drop-shipped to our customers directly from our labs. Each of our labs has taken steps to avoid the spread of Covid-19, and we will do the same - masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, cleaned and sanitized work areas, etc. We want our customers to remain healthy and happy!

So take a look through our most recent images, or if you'd like to see some of our past images you can browse (and still order prints) from our image archives. We hope you'll enjoy your time here and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, we'd love to hear from you!

Stay safe, healthy and productive,

Robert (& Kendra) Belgrad
